Fixed profile bearings are the most time-tested type of hydrostatic bearings. Commonly comprised of steel with contact surfaces of tin based babbit, their simplicity of design and long track record of performance make them an excellent choice for low to medium speed applications. Multi-lobe bore versions are also offered for high speed uses. Fixed profile bearings are manufactured in both journal and thrust configurations, with options including thrust load capacity on the end faces, hydrostatic jacking for use at start up and run down, and machining for instrumentation. Lead, bronze and Al/Sn lining options are also available.
